I love jazz because... I fell in love with John Coltrane. John Coltrane was not the first jazz artist that I had heard. I was turned on to jazz in the early seventies by my older brother. He would bring home albums from college that he heard for the first time and I was excited to hear these jazz albums. I believe it all started with Earth Wind & Fire, the elements. In 2005 I volunteered to become a community DJ at UNCG, The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. The call letters of the station are WUAG 103.1 FM The Music. I hosted a very successful radio show for five years and produced several other shows up until 2014. The show consisted of me playing various genres like; jazz, r&b, hip hop, gospel, and soul. I would spin 45's and LP's, and interviewed local and national recording artists. My jazz show was known around town and across the states with the help of the internet. I learned a lot about John Coltrane who was born in Hamlet NC, and raised in High Point NC, the town I now reside.
