Samuel Stroup

In constant search of search of something new / cool / old / loud / weird / pretty to listen to.

About Me

Born in south Minneapolis '97. Started drumming in the fifth grade. Dolphy and Monk were my gateway drug. Started a punk-jazz quartet in high school called Halcyon Daze. We rocked. I went to college and played 100,000 house shows. Now I'm back in Mpls quarantining, writing, listening, reading, emailing, watching television, doing push-ups.

I'm inspired by Albert Ayler, Keith Jarret, John Lurie, Roger Miller, the iPod Classic, Hellraiser (1987), good sound design, Bob Beamon, seashells, road trips, etc.

Favorite drummers: Paul Motian, Ronald Shannon Jackson, Ed Blackwell, Tom Ardolino, Tatsuya Nakatani, Levon Helm, J Dilla
